A picture of John 14:6

While caregiving we often get distracted by the myriad tasks that are set upon us. I remember mornings when I went through our med schedule on auto pilot because I hadn’t slept well. It’s a miracle I didn’t give the wrong dose. The whole day would be a fog. At the end of day I couldn’t tell you what I had done, but I knew I had been busy.

Do you think I took time with the Lord that day? I’ll confess so you don’t have to guess. No, I didn’t. Countless days were full of doctor visits, phone calls to insurance, and med schedules in addition to my roles as a wife and mother to two other children. I thought there was no time for reading my Bible.

Thankfully, God is full of grace for the times when we fall short. Please understand that our worth in not in a busy schedule. We don’t want to be a Martha who misses time with the Lord because we are busy serving others.

Prayer for today:

Faithful Heavenly Father, I thank you for this time with you today. Help me to keep my eyes on Jesus and remember that works are not my redemption. Thank you for your grace when I forget to sit at your feet like Mary. Please fill me with your joy today as I fulfill my tasks as caregiver. In Jesus mighty name I pray these things. Amen.
