Daily Devotion 09/30/25
I am at a point in my walk with the Lord that I am realizing just how big He is. Putting God into a box wasn’t intentional, but I was at fault for it just the same. When I didn’t feel like He was working in my life, when I was overwhelmed by worldliness in my community, or when I didn’t feel like lives were being changed even within the church, I made the box smaller. And I let it get smaller, and smaller, and smaller.
As a caregiver, you may feel that you are disconnected from God. You may feel that He isn’t answering your prayers the way you want Him to do. Or maybe you have believed the lie that God doesn’t work in people’s lives like He did in the Bible and that He is a small, hands-off God. Don’t believe it. He may not answer your prayers the way you expect, but He is definitely working in your life.
I kept a journal during our daughter’s life to record the miraculous things I saw happen. It didn’t stay empty. Sometimes it takes opening our eyes to the things we put down as coincidence to see God working.
Before we pray today, I want to remind everyone of a grand old hymn called The Love of God. We sang it at a Bible study recently and I knew I needed to include it in this devotional. The last verse couldn’t be more appropriate.
Could we with ink the ocean fill
and were the skies of parchment made,
were ev’ry stalk on earth a quill
and ev’ry man a scribe by trade,
to write the love of God above
would drain the ocean dry;
nor could the scroll contain the whole,
tho’ stretched from sky to sky.
Prayer :
Heavenly Father, I ask that you give me eyes to see and ears to hear. I want to see the ways you are working in my life and know that you are still here with me. I thank you for your grace when I don’t see things as I should and your mercy in forgiving me when I continue to rely on myself. I pray these things in Jesus name, Amen.
